Occupational Therapy

Child in Air Yoga

Pediatric Occupational Therapy offers significant benefits by enhancing a child's abilities in areas such as sensory and emotional regulation, fine and gross motor skills, self-care, feeding, and participation in group activities.

Therapy focuses on the various activities that make up a child's daily life, aiming to improve their overall functioning and independence in everyday tasks.

Our therapy clinic is outfitted with therapeutic equipment to support a Sensory Integrative approach.

Sensory Integration Therapy helps children develop automatic and appropriate responses to everyday stimuli, enabling them to perform and interact effectively at home, school, and in the community.

Children with sensory integration challenges struggle with receiving, organizing, and responding to sensory information from the auditory, visual, gustatory (taste), tactile (touch), vestibular (movement and balance), and proprioceptive (muscle and limb awareness) systems.

Sensory processing issues can be at the root of many childhood difficulties, such as:

  • Lack of coordination

  • Challenges with self-care

  • Decreased strength

  • Fine motor issues

  • Difficulty with handwriting

  • High or low muscle tone

  • Poor balance

  • Decreased attention

  • Impulsivity

  • Atypical regulation (activity level)

  • Difficulty with peer interactions

  • Challenges with completing multi-step tasks
